Botox for Forehead Lines: Why Treating the Glabella (11s) Is Essential for Best Results

Let’s talk about something that comes up all the time in my treatment room:

“Can you just do my forehead lines?”

It seems like a simple request, but here’s the thing—treating only the forehead and skipping the area between your brows (called the glabella, or “11s”) can actually backfire.

The Glabella and Forehead Work Together

Your forehead wrinkles come from the frontalis muscle, which lifts your eyebrows. But the glabella muscles do the opposite—they pull your brows downward when you frown or squint. If we relax the forehead (the lifter) without also treating the glabella (the puller), your brows can drop, making you look tired or even a little angry.

That’s why I always recommend treating both areas together with Botox, Dysport, or Xeomin. It’s the safest, most balanced way to get that smooth, lifted, and refreshed look.

It’s Not Just About Looks—It’s About Prevention

Those "11" lines between your brows are often the first to stick around, even when your face is at rest. Regularly treating the glabella helps prevent them from becoming deep, etched-in wrinkles over time.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Can I get Botox just in my forehead?
A: Technically, yes—but I don’t recommend it. Injecting only the forehead without treating the glabella can lead to brow heaviness or an unnatural look.

Q: What are "11" lines and how do I treat them?
A: “11” lines refer to the vertical lines between your eyebrows (also called the glabella). These are best treated with wrinkle relaxers like Botox, Xeomin, or Dysport.

Q: Will Botox make me look frozen?
A: Not with the right injector. At Kalen & Co., I customize every treatment to enhance your natural expressions while smoothing wrinkles.
